The Girl With The Copper Cauldron Visits The Wicked Witch...

Papa Kettles' Birthday is Halloween Eve,

which has always given us a sneaky excuse to Trick and Treat him...

Many a proud Pumpkin has been carved in his honour.

This year, Mama Kettle had a particularly cunning plan as to where we should dine,

and when she let me in on the Treat she had in store,

it seemed too tempting to resist donning my Pumpkin Scarf and Rusty Stripes...

For one night a year, the most mischievous night of them all,

I put my beloved Kettles on their shelves and reach for my trusty Cauldron...

Down The Lane and Over The Bridge.

There Sits, The Wicked Witch...

We told Pa we were off to dine, Ma's Plan Went without hitch.

A Wicked little adventure we had, these moments we must steal.

We had stilton sorbet and peanut powder,

'Twas truly a spellbinding meal.

The majority of my outfit has been an accumulation of charity shop finds... My only indulgence was this deliciously dense scarf.

As the colder months edge their way in, there's nothing I love more than wrapping and wrapping and wrapping up tight.

I'm always on the hunt for the chunkiest knit possible.

I found Valerie at EVOKnit who makes these Merino Wool scarves on Etsy...

I can't speak more highly of her, her knitting and her selection of available colours,

I feel a collection coming on...!

Mama Kettles' Witches Ball Hangs In Her Window all year round, she took it down this once so I could share it with you...

Folk Tales tell us of the ball warding off ill fortune and bad spirits.

It is believed that the strands inside, capture any harmful magic, becoming tangled, it is unable to escape,

keeping the home and its family safe...

Now it hangs back in its rightful place, so still, silently keeping us from harm...

It holds a special reflection for Halloween tonight,

one of pumpkins and gourds and cauldrons, tricks and treats.

Ready for the mischief makers to come a knocking...

'This Is My Snake Dress...'

I remember the first time I saw this film, many moons ago... For me, Eiko Ishioka filled Bram Stoker's Dracula with visual deli...
